What is the very first commandment revealed in the Word of God?

Contemplate on this and answer the question for yourself before reading further.

Some will have no insight or knowledge to answer the question (Isaiah 44:18).

Some would state the 10 commandments given to Moses as described in Exodus 20, of which the first one is:

Exodus 20:3: Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Some would state the Words spoken by Jesus in verses Matt 22:37-38:

37: Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38: This is the first and great commandment.

The Bible reveals the very first commandment of the Word of God is contained in the very beginning, in Genesis 2:1-3:

• 1: Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
• 2: And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
• 3: And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Numerous texts in the Bible emphasize the importance of God's first commandment to remember the Sabbath Day and keep it Holy:

• Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
• Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
• Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
• Exodus 23:12 Six days thou shalt do thy work, and on the seventh day thou shalt rest: that thine ox and thine ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid, and the stranger, may be refreshed.
• Exodus 31:14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
• Exodus 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
• Exodus 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
• Exodus 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
• Exodus 34:21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
• Exodus 35:2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the Lord: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
• Leviticus 16:31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.
• Leviticus 19:3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the Lord your God.
• Leviticus 19:30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
• Leviticus 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.
• Leviticus 26:2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
• Deuteronomy 5:12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.
• Deuteronomy 5:14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
• Isaiah 56:2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
• Jeremiah 17:21 Thus saith the Lord; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
• Jeremiah 17:22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.
• Ezekiel 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.
• Ezekiel 20:20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

 Are YOU keeping the Sabbath Day Holy?

Most accept the mandated day of the week for worship by their religious institution or faith, a mandate made of Man, not the Word of God. The worship day set by Man is usually on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday on Man's created calendar, not God's calendar. Challenge yourself to seek the Truth revealed in the Word of God. Are you observing the Sabbath on the correct day? (Exodus 20:10) Are you observing the Sabbath the entire day, from “from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath” (Leviticus 23:32), or attending a worship service for a "few" hours?  Are you observing the Sabbath according to your local time zone or the appointed time of God in Jerusalem, Israel "from even unto even"?

Next challenge your religious institution or faith leader, a Man, to prove that the day and times they set for worship have origins based in the Bible. The Bible contains no reference to Man's calendar, or his common days of worship, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Accept no rationalized answer from any Man; accept only a specific reference from the Bible, the Word of God.

The Bible reveals:

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Matthew 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

And Jesus said, the whole world and all nations shall be deceived (Revelation 12:9 Revelation 18:23).

 Are You Deceived?
