We decided to get three Onyx Type IV Foam Boat Cushions in the colors red, white, and blue. These would function as cockpit cushions and also fulfill the USCG 33CFR 175.15.3.b requirement for a throwable PFD. A reasonable price was found at Defender’s website at $14.99 each. These were ordered on 17 October 2016 and shipped to our balikbayan box consolidator and forwarder Manila Forwarder in Los Angles, California and received there on 25 October 2016. We received them in Naga City, Cebu on 7 January 2017.
The literature that comes with the Onyx throwable foam boat cushions did not specify any periodic maintenance and inspection requirements. An instruction or owners manual was not located on the internet. An annual visual inspection of the throwable foam boat cushions was added to our master tracking list of Periodic Maintenance Requirements.
